writen by Renny Turangga The weather become hotter than it usually, as the last session of high level meeting opened. In this session there are numerous speakers, representing the head of delegation and ministers (Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Trade from Indonesia), the intergovernmental organization (OECD, OPEC, IIEA, SGCAN, COMIFAC, Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, IUCN, ITTO, IIF), and also from the civil society. Mean while several press conferences still held in the auditorium room. The U.S delegation has postponed their press conference this morning at 9.30 AM, so Climate Action Network (CAN) will be the first group to held the press conference. Again at CAN press conference, the pressure to U.S, Japan, and Canada are given. CAN insisted Japan not to follow U.S since there will be significant changes in U.S presidency in the future. They even call nations to isolate U.S for their roadblock in the conference. Several meetings such as the meetings of Groups other than the Convention Budies, meetings of UN agencies, and meetings of observer organizations still being conducted in other rooms/hotel. Will COP 13 bring new optimism or it will just leave a lot of homeworks for the next COP? Time will tell us. |
