What Will Be The Result Of The Conference?

There had been debate, negotiation, discussion through this two weeks of the climate conference. All of those efforts is intended to combat climate change. Everyone is hoping for the best result.

“Whatever the results are, the most important thing is people welfare,” said Sarwono Kusumaatmaja, one of the member of Jakarta’s Local Representative Council (Dewan Perwakilan Daerah), who also the ex-Minister of Environment of Indonesia.

He concerned about the lack of ‘local sensitivity’ for agreements, which are internationally agreed. So the key is that our government should implement it in the way that suitable with Indonesia’s condition. “We are the one who set up the benchmark for any implementation,” said Sarwono.

Sarwono also praise some initiatives that came from several provinces to make partnership with foreign organization, namely Aceh, West Papua and even Malinau Regency.
The Province of North Sulawesi also initiatively will held the World Ocean Conference next year. It proves that more people in Indonesia is concern about their own envirorenment.
